A large pharmaceutical company needed more than 300,000 product-recall communication packs produced and delivered to health care practitioners within three days—a daunting task. SGI employees rose to the occasion, working around the clock for three days to ensure delivery within customer specifications. The job was not yet done, however. The company also needed 38,000 recall kits delivered the next Saturday to pharmacies nationwide. Every SGI employee, including office staff and executives, pitched in to make the kits, working on the production line for 28 consecutive hours with only intermittent breaks for catnaps. SGI also worked with its vendors to negotiate a reduced shipping rate. At the time, this project was the single largest overnight delivery in UPS history. In the end, the kits were built accurately and delivered on time, with a savings to the customer of more than $100,000 in shipping costs.

This type of effort is not required often, but this kind of attitude is evident in our employees. It shows as they attend to every detail of a project, in supporting teammates when they need help, in investigating situations when something just doesn’t seem right, and in hundreds of other ways.
